The Challenge: As the first-ever Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen Gala, the organisers needed a compelling way to document and showcase the success of the evening, capturing its atmosphere, scale, and purpose to build momentum and inspire future support.
The Solution: Farsight created a dynamic highlights video that told the story of the night, from guest arrivals and keynote speeches to live entertainment and fundraising moments. With a focus on emotion, energy, and community impact, we crafted a piece that celebrated the event’s purpose and set the tone for future galas.
The Results: The final video was praised by Cancer Research UK and event organisers, serving as a powerful marketing and legacy tool. It helped raise awareness, engage new audiences, and establish the gala as a flagship fundraising event in the Aberdeen business calendar.

As this was the inaugural Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen Gala, the client aimed to:
- Raise Awareness of the event’s purpose and its affiliation with Cancer Research UK.
- Capture the Atmosphere of the evening to reflect the unity, generosity, and spirit of the Aberdeen business community.
- Build Credibility for future galas by showcasing a professionally executed and well-attended launch event.
- Create Shareable Content that could be distributed across digital platforms to extend reach beyond those in the room.
- Inspire Future Sponsors and Attendees by highlighting the success and emotional impact of the evening.
The video was seen as a long-term investment in the event’s growth, helping to solidify its place in the city’s fundraising calendar.
From the outset, our goal was to craft a highlights video that told a story worth remembering.
We began by meeting with the event organisers to understand the heart behind Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen: the cause, the audience, and the emotional beats they wanted to hit. With this insight, we mapped out a narrative arc to guide filming, focusing on arrival moments, key speeches, audience engagement, entertainment, and fundraising milestones.
While there was no scripted dialogue, our internal storyboard identified the emotional rhythm of the evening, starting with anticipation, building energy during the event, and closing with a powerful sense of impact and unity.
Editing focused on pacing and mood, blending cinematic visuals with real moments to reflect both the prestige of the venue and the heartfelt nature of the cause. The final product was delivered in a format optimised for digital sharing, social media, and future promotional use.

Filming took place on location at The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen, an elegant venue chosen for its atmosphere and capacity to host high-profile charity events. Our team arrived early to scout the space, assess lighting conditions, and map out key vantage points to ensure seamless coverage without disrupting the guest experience.
We used a multi-camera setup to cover wide angles of the venue and audience, complemented by gimbal-stabilised roaming shots to bring energy and movement into the piece. Low-light capable cameras and prime lenses were selected to maintain image quality throughout the evening.
The video delivered on every objective, transforming the success of the first Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen Gala into a powerful visual legacy. By capturing the scale, emotion, and professionalism of the evening, the content provided the organisers with a compelling tool to raise awareness, demonstrate credibility, and inspire future involvement.
The highlights film was widely shared across digital channels, garnering strong engagement from attendees, sponsors, and the wider business community.
Most importantly, it turned a one-night event into an ongoing story, helping to cement Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen as a flagship fundraising initiative and positioning it for sustainable growth year after year.
